Why This Class is Important

Becoming a firearms owner can be a stressful and intimidating experience, especially for those on the left who may not have grown up around guns or whose views in the past prevented them from exploring responsible gun ownership. The fear of making mistakes, navigating a new and often misunderstood world, or facing judgment can feel overwhelming. This class is designed to address those anxieties head-on. Created by The Liberal Gun Club, this course offers a welcoming and friendly environment where you can learn the basics of firearms safety and operation without fear of judgment or condescension. Our instructors have either faced the same anxieties and fears themselves or have helped hundreds of others through this journey. This is exactly the class you need to take your first step toward understanding firearms in a way that aligns with your values and builds your confidence.

Key Learning Objectives

• Learn the basic parts and operations of a modern semi-automatic handgun: Gain a clear understanding of how handguns function.
• Understand safe handgun handling practices and safe storage for handguns: Learn essential safety protocols to prevent accidents and unauthorized access.
• Explore how to select and buy your first firearm: Receive guidance on choosing a firearm that fits your needs and circumstances.
• Learn how to load and unload a handgun: Develop practical skills for safe handling and operation.
• Learn about the fundamentals of shooting: Such as grip, stance, aiming, and taking your first shots.
• Understand how to safely practice at a shooting range: Build confidence and skills with real-world practice guidance.

Cost

This class is offered on a "Pay What You Want" donation model. Cash donations are encouraged, but Venmo or PayPal are also accepted. Your contributions help us continue providing accessible training to all who need it.

Class Availability

This class is taught online, virtually, and is available anywhere in the United States. For those interested in custom group options, we also offer in-person training versions that can be negotiated as needed.
